Tribute to the Great Wall of India !!!!

Hello again, thanks again for dropping in here :-)..

Ever since, I read about Rahul Sharad Dravid or R S Dravid or Rahul Dravid or Jammy or the Wall (More Info::  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahul_Dravid)  in 1993, I always knew that he had the perfect temperament & caliber to reach great heights.

A Pic of Young Rahul Dravid (some time in 1994)

Now, after 15 years of making his debut, I really feel he has done great justice to his talent with his sheer work ethics & dedication..

It was a childhood dream to see his name appear on the Honor’s board at Lord’s as in his debut match, he got out after scoring 95 on 22-June-1996 and after 15 years, 1 month & 1 day, finally, managed to see his name appear on the Honors board at Lord’s..

While scoring this century, he also became the 2nd highest run scorer in the Test Cricket history & surpassed Ricky Ponting 🙂

So, here’s a poem that I myself have written on the Great Wall of India 🙂

To bat with such amazing concentration Innings after Innings,

Is way Beyond anyone’s Imagining..

On Yet Another chilly Saturday, Jammy Made History,

As all of us in the cricketing world, saw him with Mystery..

On a Lively wicket, Dravid Does Sizzle,

& The Bowlers are in a Puzzle..

Bowl Short or full is the Dilemma,

As they Find his Batting Technique an Enigma.

Bowl short & he will duck to give the ball a Ticket,

Bowl full & he will spank you straight down the Wicket..

A Batsman of perfect Concentration, Subtle & Guile,

Combining Technique, Perfection, & Craft with Wile..

Soft Spoken, Humility is his Symbol,

When he bats, bowlers Tremble..

He is Cricketing history’s true Hero,

As he has made great Bowlers look like Zero..

His Defence (Defense) has tired many bowlers in to the Pavillion,

his heroism has sent whole team in to Obvilion.

His super & fantastic heroic achievement,

has made him man of the Moment..

Born in the Year of Nineteen Seventy Three,

his work ethics are for every one to see.

His love for the Great Tri-Colour (Indian Flag)

has always been proven in every rubber..

His motto to do the Unfinished job for others,

Makes him different from all others.

More Glory to himself & fresh laurels to the country,

May his Work Ethics inspire every one in the coming centuries…..

Rahul Dravid batted with a broken jaw at Jamaica on 15-April-2002 & went on to score his 10th 100 :-)… Man of steel !!

BLOW, BLOW, Thou Winter Wind :: DHAEFO

Welcome once again to my blog..  Really hoping against hope to be more regular here and hope, will blog at least once in a week or maximum ten days in the coming weeks !!

Well, Today, it will be exactly 18 years since I read this Fabulously Fabulous Poem ( Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind ) written by my favorite William Shakespeare some time in the 16th Century !!!

Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind
As man’s ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.

Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh

As benefits forgot,

Though thou the waters warp,

Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship if feigning, most loving mere folly

Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.

This Poem really leaves a deep lasting impression even at first sight. Never would have Shakespeare thought that even after 500 years, people would still be remembering this poem and linking it to their life..

Nor, even had I imagined in my wildest dreams that even after 17-18 years, I would still be remembering every single word of this great composition and this poem will be so very close to my life !!

The summary ->

This poem ‘Blow! Blow! Thou Winter Wind’ is a song sung by the character named Amiens in the drama written by William Shakespeare !!!!

The Character Named Amiens sings this song commenting upon the ways of the world, and human ingratitude which is more biting than the piercing cold winter wind..

The poet in the beginning addresses the winter wind & says that it can blow as much hard as it likes because it is not so harsh and rude like man’s nature of being ungrateful.. The attack of the winter wind is not so sharp because it is not visible although it is bitingly cold…

The poet asks the frosty sky to freeze because it won’t cause him deep pain as caused by his friends who forget his favours instead of being thankful.

The poet says that although the waters are frozen they don’t cause sharp pain like one caused by his friend, who doesn’t even bother to remember him. :((

Thus, the frozen faces of the world are more painful than the frozen waters :((.

We should always be singing throughout the year like ‘holly’ (an evergreen plant)..

The poet here says that the friendship is only a pretense (Just a show-off or pretending )  and Love is nothing but absurdity (Non-sense) and foolery (Silly) .

He again tells that life is very wonderful and should be fully enjoyed. It is like a song and should be sung always.

My Interpretation is that Shakespeare would have written this to expose the true face of people & isn’t it bizarre that even 400 years back, people were like they are today :(.

This leaves us with the Obvious question, If people have been like this ever since beginning, why does their ingratitude still causes Pain & Misery ??

Well, my only answer & solution to that is the Term ‘Expectations’

Unfortunately, till the time, ‘Expectations’ will be there, there would be pain , suffering & misery as Humans will never ever change !!!!

So, according to me the Simple solution or medicine is a 6 Letter Abbreviation : DHAEFO

DHAEFO : Don’t have any expectations from Others..

Human’s ingratitude hurts more than the painful winter winds??
